Joe Biden has been forced to change his travel plans for attending the Cop26 climate summit in Glasgow due to the Scottish weather.

The US President left the outskirts of Edinburgh this morning with his entourage of dozens of vehicles for the second day of crunch climate talks.

The White House had intended for the 78-year-old to fly by helicopter from the luxury Dalmahoy Hotel to Glasgow.

But there were concerns from POTUS' team that his military aircraft could potentially sink into the soft ground at the estate.

Despite a change of plan, Biden still appeared to be in good spirits as he left his four-star accommodation this morning, even giving a thumbs up to bystanders who waited outside.

A large police presence met the US President at Edinburgh Airport yesterday as Air Force One touched down at around 11am.

Biden began travelling to Glasgow to meet with more than 100 world leaders and climate activists shortly after.

His motorcade was then seen travelling along the M8 on its way to the SEC in Glasgow.

Other prominent climate activists and leaders were taking part in negotiations. Scotland's First Minister Nicola Sturgeon met young climate campaigners Greta Thunberg and Vanessa Nakate and called on leaders to "put their egos aside" to work on the common issue of solving the climate crisis.
