Online sales for Hearts match achieve rare feat in lockdown
Caley Thistle have now confirmed their club record attendance for a match, set in 2008 when the club faced Rangers, has now been overtaken following an online campaign to sell virtual tickets for their upcoming match with Hearts.
ICT have now sold over 7,820 virtual tickets - beating the previous record of 7,753.
Virtual tickets for the Championship match against Hearts only went on sale on Saturday morning, without any target or expectation. The plan was to have a 'souvenir' ticket for the game, signed by the Inverness boss John Robertson, as a fundraiser for the game which is set to be televised anyway.
It's not only been local fans who have joined in, there have also been others from across 4 continents, including in Melbourne, Florida, Syndey and Perth (Australia) who have bought tickets since Saturday.
Supporters of Heart of Midlothian have made also contributed to this venture, with a collective level of goodwill seldom seen in football, a spokesperson for the club said "90% have been Hearts fans... it has been incredible"
The club are hailing this unique record at the Caledonian Stadium, achieved in unique circumstances.
