A MAN who raped a nurse after ignoring her pleas to stop has been jailed for six years.

Paul Ross,23, attacked the woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, at an address in Inverness in May 2013.

The pervert, also of Inverness, preyed on the woman at a house in the city on the evening of May 11 that year.

Ross was convicted of rape following a trial at the High Court in Aberdeen last month. Sentence had been deferred to the High Court in Edinburgh for judge Lord Kinclaven to obtain reports about Ross's character.

On Friday, defence advocate Bill Adam told Lord Kinclaven that his client had a difficult time growing up due to a brain injury.

He said that Mr Ross accepted that he was being sent to prison and that he was committed to getting a job upon his release.

Lord Kinclaven told Ross that a prison sentence was the only disposal available to him.

He was also placed on the Sex Offenders Register.
