An Inverness man who repeatedly raped a 36-year-old woman is facing a lengthy prison sentence.
Vincent Spears,51, sexually assaulted the female, who cannot be named for legal reasons, at an address in the Highland capital in October 2013.
The High Court in Edinburgh heard how the crook, who has previous convictions for dishonesty, choked his victim and threatened to kill her during the horrifying attacks.
The story emerged after Spears, of Knocknagel, Slackbuie, Inverness, was convicted on Monday following a week long trial at the court.
He had pleaded not guilty to attacking the woman - but a jury found there to be enough evidence to convict him of rape.
Judge Lady Wolffe deferred sentence on Spears for the court to obtain reports about his character.
He will be sentenced at the High Court in Edinburgh on March 27 2015.
