Inverness Man Cleared Of Rape
An Inverness man accused of raping a 34-year-old single mum has been cleared.
An Inverness man accused of raping a 34-year-old single mum after a booze session was dramatically cleared by a jury.
Douglas "Duggie" Dyce wept in the dock as the not guilty verdict was returned at the High Court in Livingston.
Dyce had claimed that the unemployed hairdresser had led him round the back of a sewage works near his father's home in Kessock Road and had sex with him.
Dyce, 29, insisted that the woman had lied about him throwing her to the ground and raping her, claiming the sex was consensual.
He also claimed she had kissed him during an earlier booze session at his dad's home while her fiancée slept.
He said he was "flabbergasted" when police arrived at her flat early the next morning and detained him for rape.
Trial judge Lady Wolffe told Dyce: "By the verdict of the jury you've been found not guilty. You're therefore discharged from the dock and free to go."
