Inverness shop-workers have been threatened twice at knife-point over two days.

Police believe the two incidents on Saturday night and Sunday morning at Laidlaws on Bruce Gardens are linked

A cash sum between £100 and £200 was taken during Sunday's robbery.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

Detective Sergeant Joanna Macleod said: "Both of these incidents were frightening ordeals for the staff members involved.

"These are unusual incidents for Inverness and we are carrying out extensive enquiries to identify the man responsible.

"While we are keeping an open mind, we are treating the incidents as linked.

"I would urge anyone who saw a man matching these descriptions on either Saturday night or Sunday morning in the Dalneigh area to come forward.

"I would also be keen to speak to anyone who may have private CCTV or dashcam footage from the area."

During Saturday's attempted robbery just before 10pm, the shop worker managed to repel the unidentified man who then fled.

He's described as being around 6ft or above in height, and of slim to medium build.

Police say he was wearing a blue and black hooded jacket with a white logo on the rear and dark bottoms.

He was also wearing blue latex style gloves and a face covering.

At 11:45am the following day, a man again entered the shop and threatened a staff member with a knife and a wooden stick.

He was wearing a black hooded top with a large white Adidas logo on the front, blue jeans and dark trainers.

Officers are asking anyone who can help to call 101, quoting incident 1639 of 1 August, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
