An Inverness group which focuses on the benefits of gardening are hoping to "grow from strength to strength."

Incredible Edible have just finished a community orchard consisting of 10 apple trees right here at MFR.

Members of the public are now being invited to come down and have a look, after the final tree was planted on Friday.

The group has several projects ongoing around the Highland capital, with people being urged to become volunteers.

People have been "very helpful"

After several weeks of hard work and determination, the space surrounding the MFR station has been transformed into a welcoming apple garden.

With groups across the UK, Incredible Edible look to inform people about where food comes from by working on gardens in urban areas.

Incredible Edible Inverness Chair, Wendy Price, hopes our community orchard in Scorguie will prove popular with residents.

She said: "The idea behind it is to let people see where vegetables are grown and how easy it is to grow stuff to eat locally.

"There was an article in a newspaper recently, where people were asked had they seen vegetables being grown.

"And a huge percentage, like a few million people for instance that onions grew on trees.

"We really are hopeful some of the local community around the MFR station will get involved, will enjoy looking after these trees and bringing them on.

"Here at the Orchard, we've had woodchip from the Scottish School of Forestry, so people have been very helpful towards us generally

"To use a pun, we're just hoping it'll grow from strength to strength."

Local Councillor Alex Graham was at MFR for the last apple tree being planted on Friday.

He said: "I think they're doing good work.

"They're encouraging people to grow they're own veg, plant their own trees and to get involved with using the ground productively.

"It's also very educational."
