Inverness Film Development Officer Admits To String Of Offences

A film development officer, from Inverness, who brought James Bond, Rob Roy and Braveheart to Scotland has admitted a string of bizarre crimes.

A film development officer, from Inverness, who brought James Bond, Rob Roy and Braveheart to Scotland has admitted a string of bizarre crimes.

Highlands and Islands film commissioner Trish Shorthouse - who helped boost the local economy bringing Harry Potter films to the area - assaulted police officers, stole a badge from a taxi and breached bail conditions. Her cases called at Glasgow Sheriff Court where she was due to be sentenced for her crimes that took place between June 2014 and January 2015.

She previously pled guilty to the string of offences, but sentence was further deferred until June.

Her lawyer Bob McDowall told the court that his client, from Inverness, is now living with a friend in Glasgow.

He said Shorthouse has had a "tumultuous" 12 months.

On an earlier occasion she admitted behaving in a threatening or abusive manner by shouting and swearing, on December 5, last year in Cranhill, Glasgow.

She also admitted stealing the private hire plate from a taxi in the area, on the same date, and assaulting PC Andrew Caldwell by kicking him on the body.

Less than a week later on December 10, 2014, she failed to give a breath specimen on December when she had previously been granted bail at Inverness Sheriff Court with the condition she must provide a sample if requested.

On the same date at her former flat in Garnethill, Glasgow, she assaulted PC Kirsten Rodgers and kicked her on the leg, grabbed her by the clothes and scratched her on the body, to her injury.

Shorthouse also assaulted PC Jennifer Bell at London Road police office by punching and kicking her on he body.

The court heard she also admitted breaching bail conditions on December 20 and January 17, by not being in her bail address when she was supposed to be.

She will learn her fate when she returns to the dock later this year.
