Inverness baby death treated as 'suspicious'

Police Scotland have confirmed that the death of Mikayla Haining is being treated as suspicious.

Mikayla, aged just three-weeks-old, died on Thursday the 8th of June shortly after being taken to Raigmore Hospital.

Police then launched an investigation to look into the circumstances behind the baby's death, with detectives working at a property in Hilton's MacKay Road.

Detective Inspector Brian Geddes, who is leading the investigation, said: "Following extensive enquiries, we can now confirm that the circumstances surrounding Mikayla Haining's death are suspicious"

"Our investigation remains ongoing at this time, as we work towards establishing the full set of circumstances that led to Mikayla's death, and it would be inappropriate to comment further at this time."
