Independents In Charge @ Highland Council

The council's Independent group will run the local authority as a minority administration.

Highland Council's new Indepdendent administration has been confirmed.

Councillors agreed the takeover at a special meeting in Inverness earlier.

It follows weeks of talks sparked by the Lib Dems walking out of the previous SNP/Labour coalition.

It had run the local authority since 2012.

The Independent group will now take charge as a minority administration.

Margaret Davidson was appointed new council leader, while Isobell McCallum becomes convener.
