Around 200 guests gathered for the 16th sportMoray Recognition Awards in Elgin last night.

The annual event celebrates the work of Moray’s dedicated athletes, committed volunteers and strong sports clubs and teams.

Hosted by Ann Rossiter, Chair of sportMoray the evening kicked off with the new Sport in Moray film.

Three of the Moray winners from 2014 went onto win Regional Awards by sportscotland; Bunty Gardiner from Cullen was crowned Grampian Volunteer of the Year, Campbell Ross from Forres was voted Young Person’s Coach of the Year for Grampian and Steve Murdoch from Elgin was voted Grampian Technical Official of the Year.

Intermediate Team – Keith Grammar U15 Football Team

Senior Team – Moravian Orienteering Club

Coach – Allan Duncan

Club Level – Violet Beattie

School Sport Volunteer – Gordon Barron

Community Engagement – National Autistic Society Scotland’s Moray and Nairn Volunteer Branch – Surf School

Special Achievement – Callum Jacklin

Intermediate Sportsman – Cameron Main

Intermediate Sportswoman – Chloe McIntosh

Senior Sports Athlete – Sam Rodda

Sports Personality of the Year – Mike Alexander
