Hillwalker's Body Found In The Highlands

A search was launched for the 60 year old after he failed to return on Friday.

The body of a 60 year old man who had been walking in the Grey Corries near Fort William has been found.

A search was launched after the hillwalker failed to return on Friday.

He was found the next day by mountain rescue crews.

It's believed he slipped and fell off the mountain.

A police spokesperson said: "About midnight on Friday 08 August 2015, Police at Fort William received a report of a 60 year-old hillwalker from the Berkshire area who was overdue on his return from walking in the Grey Corries area, near Fort William.

"About 0800 hours on Saturday 09 August 2015, a full search operation commenced involving Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team, Glencoe Mountain Rescue Team, the RAF Mountain Rescue Team, a Police Dog handler and a search and rescue HM Coastguard helicopter.

"About 1500 hours, same date, the man was found sadly deceased having apparently slipped and fallen in the Coire Choimlidh area.

"Next of kin have been made aware and a report of the circumstances has been sent to the Procurator Fiscal."
