Highland Wildfires Put Out By Rain
Wildfires that have raged across the Highlands for almost two days have gone out following rainy conditions. The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) was called to the scene behind the water treatment works in Dornoch in at about 12.30pm on Thursday. At the height of the incident on Thursday night eight pumps, the welfare unit, water carrier, incident command unit and all-terrain vehicle were there. Yesterday morning firefighters were dealing with a three-mile fire-front, with six appliances at the scene. SFRS say the fire was out by around 3.45am today. One fire engine remains at the scene to monitor the situation.
