Highland OAP Admits Downloading Indecent Images of Children
A Highland OAP will be sentenced next month after admitting downloading indecent images of children.
65 year old David Chambers from Dingwall was caught by police after his IP address was found accessing chat rooms "indicative of sexual interest in children", fiscal depute Karen Smith told Inverness Sheriff Court.
Ms Smith went on: "Police got the intelligence on October 2013 that it had been going on since August 2013. The IP address was traced to Chambers home and a search warrant was obtained.
"A number of items were taken away and forensic examination revealed that a laptop and a tower unit belonging to Chambers had a total of 56 images."
The scale of obscenity in images is now at three levels and one of Chambers' images was at the highest at Class A.
Two were at Class B and 53 were at the lowest end of the scale at 'C'.
Defence solicitor Duncan Henderson told Sheriff Margaret Neilson: "The images were downloaded and 41 found on the laptop were deleted.
"The remainder found on the tower unit also were not accessible."
Chambers will re-appear for sentence on September 24 after a background report has been prepared and he was placed on the Sex Offender's Register.
