A 63-year-old man who abused two girls over a 19-year-period has been jailed for six years.

Leslie Kinvig, who was convicted after trial at the High Court in Glasgow, was also placed on the sex offenders' register.

Kinvig was found guilty of sexually abusing one girl between June 1981 and November 1986 when she was aged eight to 13 at addresses in Argyllshire.

His victim told of how he would kiss and lick her neck touch her breasts and private parts.

Kinvig, of Dalcross, Ross-shire, was cleared of a further charge of raping her when she was 13.

He was also found guilty of sexually abusing a second girl between October1991 and September 2000.

The court heard that he made indecent remarks to her, touched her private parts and kissed her on the lips and neck.

The abuse began when the girl was aged just 12.

Judge John Morris QC told Kinvig: "The jury convicted you of serious sexual offences against two females.

“They didn't accept the more serious charges against you.

“They convicted you of a catalogue of sex offences over a considerable period of time."

Defence advocate Sarah Livingstone said: "There is no suggestion that since 2000 there has been any offending.

“Not a hint of abuse or any other charges for 15 years."
