Highland hotel forced to partially close over 'gas incident' investigation
Safety officers tell Carrbridge Hotel to shut-down wood-fired boiler and close four-guest rooms.
Health and safety officials have ordered Carrbridge Hotel to shut-down its wood-fired boiler and close four-guest rooms.
It's after four-people there suffered carbon monoxide poisoning last Friday morning.
They were treated at Raigmore Hospital in Inverness, and later released in the evening on the same day of the incident under investigation.
Highland Council officials say that the measures are precautionary and it's not yet known what caused the incident.
Senior Environmental Health Officer, Patricia Sheldon told MFR News: "This was a very serious incident that was very distressing for all those involved.
"We are currently carrying out a detailed investigation to identify what happened.
"At this stage we don’t know what caused this incident.
"I would take this opportunity to remind tourist accommodation providers and landlords, to ensure that any oil, gas or wood fired appliances are regularly serviced and maintained to ensure that they are safe to operate.
"Carbon monoxide detection alarms are a useful precautionary measure however they should not be regarded as a replacement for regular maintenance and safety checks."
