Police Scotland have confirmed the identity of the men who died, and the other man who remains missing, after a fishing boat sank off Mingulay in the Western Isles. Police were made aware of the incident via the Coastguard shortly after 4am on Saturday 9th April. The two men who sadly died were Martin Johnstone (29) from Halkirk and Chris Morrison (27) from Stornoway. One of the crew remains missing at sea, Paul Alliston (formerly MacMillan) aged 42, from Lochs, Isle of Lewis. The fourth crew member, a man in his twenties who lives locally, did not sustain any serious injuries. Last night there were searches of the area where the boat sank and further searches will be carried out in an effort to locate Mr Alliston. The incident is now under investigation by Police Scotland and the Marine Accident and Investigation Branch, the findings of which will be the subject of a report to the Procurator Fiscal.
