A man is being tested for Ebola after returning from Liberia.

The man was admitted to the Brownlee Centre for Infectious Diseases at Gartnavel Hospital in Glasgow at around 2am today.

Results of the tests are expected this afternoon.

An NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde spokesman said: A man has been admitted to hospital this morning and is being tested for Ebola. He had come from Liberia.''

He said it is thought very unlikely'' that the man has Ebola.

More than 10,500 people have died in the Ebola outbreak, which has centred on Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea.

Liberia reported no confirmed cases in the week to April 5, according to the World Health Organisation.
