Gardyne says Celtic's treble is far from sealed

The Ross County midfielder believes several clubs - including his own - can prevent the Hoops from recording a clean sweep in season 2016-17.

Ross County midfielder Michael Gardyne insists there are plenty of teams who can stop Celtic winning the treble - including his own.

Celtic are clear favourites to win the William Hill Scottish Cup after clinching the Betfred Cup with a comfortable 3-0 win over Aberdeen and moving 27 points clear in the Ladbrokes Premiership.

But County are one of the teams who are eyeing a cup run themselves ahead of their fifth-round tie against Aberdeen in Dingwall.

And Gardyne - who scored in County's League Cup final triumph last season - feels talk of a Celtic treble is premature.

"It's just the way it is with the media,'' Gardyne said. "Obviously Celtic are running away with everything but I think everyone who is still in the cup has got a chance"

"That's just part and parcel of the way people talk in the media and the press but I think everyone who is still in the Scottish Cup will believe they have a chance to win it.''

"We've obviously won a cup before so we know what it takes, and Aberdeen have as well"

County go into the game boosted by a 1-1 draw against Rangers after back-to-back defeats by Kilmarnock and Motherwell.

"The two results before that got all the lads down a bit, but we got going again and it was a great performance from the lads at Ibrox. On another day we could have had the three points,'' he said.

"There was a bit of disappointment in the dressing room after the game and that's great to have, (being) disappointed after getting a draw at Ibrox.''
