Funding confirmed for NHS in the north and north east

NHS Highland to receive an additional £27.5m with Grampian getting £55m

Health Secretary Shona Robison has detailed funding plans for 2016-17 with NHS Highland seeing a 5% increase and NHS Grampian receiving 6.6% more.

Highland's overall budget now stretches to £577.5 million with NHS Grampian a total £882.3 million.

Grampian includes a £23 million investment in social care - to Highland's £15.3 million - as part of the £250 million committed by the deputy first minister as part of the 2016-17 settlement.

This comes as Scotland's total healthcare spending reached almost £13bn for the first time ever.
