Police say enquiries into yesterday's incident near Durness are ongoing
Police have confirmed the identity of a boy who was killed in a quad bike crash in the Far North.
11-year-old Charlie Morrison was pronounced dead at the scene after emergency services rushed to the scene near Durness yesterday afternoon.
MFR News understands Charlie was travelling between his parents and his grandparents' home when the incident occurred.
Tributes have poured in for the 11-year-old including from local Councillor Hugh Morrison, who described the current feeling in the area as "extremely numb".
He said: "No words can really put in the fact that someone has lost their life and a family has lost a loved one.
"Everybody knows each other everybody in such a small area.
"Less than 300 people stay in Durness and the family are very well known."
Police Scotland say enquiries into the incident are ongoing.
Sergeant Christopher Donaldson from the Road Policing Unit at Dingwall said: "Our thoughts are with Charlie’s family and friends at this very difficult time.
"Police enquiries are continuing to establish the exact circumstances surrounding this crash."
This comes after Police confirmed two people died following a crash north of Latheron.
A 46-year-old male driver and 50-year-old female passenger were both pronounced dead at the scene.
