Firefighters tackle blaze at Moray forest

A fire has broken out at a forest near Forres, with multiple firefighters sent to the scene.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were alerted to the gorse fire in Culbin Forest earlier today at around 2:04pm.

Five fire crews have been sent to the scene and remain in attendance.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 2.04pm on Tuesday, 30 July to a gorse fire in Culbin Forest, near Forres.

"Operations Control immediately mobilised five fire appliances to the scene.

"There are no casualties, and crews remain in attendance."

Police Scotland are also urging members of the public to avoid the area.

A spokesperson said: "Members of the public are asked to avoid the area surrounding Culbin Woods, East of Nairn due to an ongoing fire.

"Scottish Fire and Rescue Service are in attendance."
