Firefighters cordon off Inverness street

Firefighters are currently in attendance at an incident in the centre of Inverness.

They were called out to Union Street shortly before midday.

Smoke was spotted coming out of a building occupied by several businesses including Waverley Guest House.

Images sent to us show two fire engines on the scene.

Union street was cordoned off by firefighters earlier today.

Union street has been cordoned off by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS.)

A spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 11.42am on Friday, 9 August, to reports of smoke from a commercial building on Union Street, Inverness.

"Operations Control mobilised two appliances to the scene where a fire is affecting an external pipe of a three-storey building.

"Firefighters remain at the scene."
