The family of a Rothes man who died after being involved in a crash say he will be "sorely missed."

Paul Fairbairn was rushed to Dr Gray's Hospital yesterday, following a collision between a white Transit van and a white Suzuki motorbike on the A941, at its junction towards Birnie.

However, the 44-year-old sadly died a short time after.

His family have released the following statement through Police Scotland.

They said: "We would like to say thank you to all the emergency services and staff at Dr Grays Hospital.

"Thank you to family and friends who have been in touch and the Highlanders MCC for their support.

"Paul will be sorely missed and we ask that our privacy is respected at this time."

Officers say enquiries are still ongoing to establish exactly what happened.
