Extra trains laid on for 4 days of music at Glasgow Green
Boost for fans heading to Motley Crue/Def Leppard and TRNSMT
Music fans travelling to Glasgow Green to see Mötley Crüe & Def Leppard perform, or heading to TRNSMT next weekend will have better transport links
ScotRail says extra seats will be added to trains in and out of Glasgow when the two iconic rock bands take to the stage at Glasgow Green on July 6, and throughout the three-day TRSNMT festival which runs from July 7 to Sunday to July 9.
Additional services will also be in operation, with later trains to Inverclyde, Ayr, Edinburgh, and East Kilbride. Some trains will be retimed to support the event, so ScotRail is encouraging festivalgoers to check and plan their journey in advance. Customers are also advised to allow extra time for travel as trains to and from the city centre will very busy.
Glasgow Green can be accessed from five stations, all within a 20-minute walk – Bridgeton, High Street, Glasgow Central, Glasgow Queen Street, and Argyle Street station. However, customers are reminded that Argyle Street station closes at 6pm on Sundays.
ScotRail is also encouraging customers to buy their train tickets in advance via the mTicket system on the ScotRail app. Buying tickets through the mTickets system means people can secure their tickets from the comfort of their home, or on the way to the station, and it will instantly become available on their mobile device, reducing their need to queue at the station.
Extra staff will be on hand at key stations to assist customers, and the train operator is reminding everyone that the carrying and consumption of alcohol is prohibited on ScotRail trains and in ScotRail stations.
Phil Campbell, ScotRail Head of Customer Operations, said: “This year’s TRNSMT is shaping up to be an exciting event Pulp, Sam Fender, and The 1975 headlining the show.
“We’ll be playing our part in helping the festival run smoothly by providing extra seats on trains to and from the Glasgow, as well as extra late-night trains to help people get home. Trains are expected to be really busy, so customers should plan ahead.
“Make sure to check your train times on the ScotRail website or app as some trains have been retimed to support the event, leave plenty of time for travel, and make sure you have your return tickets before boarding.”
