You may remember an MFR News report into Wick Campus when a photo of scaffolding appearing to hold up a stairwell there was leaked from the construction site.

Now, another photo has emerged, thrusting the controversial new school back into the media spotlight.

Wick Campus was supposed to open last October but the project, which has been plagued by problems, is overrunning.

A while ago a leaked photo from the site sparked concerns for pupil safety - because it showed scaffolding holding up a stairwell there.

That was dismissed as outdated, and we were told at the time that the issue had been sorted.

But an MFR News investigation has since uncovered photo evidence that scaffolding remained under a stairwell which was then covered up by plasterboard.

We passed on the information to Highland Council's education boss, Councillor Drew Millar. He told MFR News: "I passed it on to the relevant officers, and they immediately instructed that that should be investigated to see if it was true or not.

"They did break through the plasterboard. The scaffolding was there in place. It wasn't supporting anything. It's been taken away."

The scaffolding was discovered after Morrison Construction told the local authority that the school is ready for handover, although Highland Council is currently refusing to accept the keys until so-called oustanding work is carried out, along with "snagging."

The organisation hub North Scotland links the private sector with the public sector and project manages the building of new schools.

MFR News wants to ask hub North Scotland what's been going wrong in Caithness - we've contacted them, but we've not heard back from them yet.
