*EXCLUSIVE* Video: Mum of Scottish Mars Mission Candidate Speaks Out

Published 17th Feb 2015

By Connor Gillies If your kid came home and said they wanted to live on Mars...most would think it's a joke but for one Glasgow mum it is a reality. Hilary Earnshaw's 23 year old daughter Hannah is on the final shortlist of 100 candidates for the mission with no return.

She will be training for the next 10 years if she makes the final crew of 24.

More than 200,000 people applied for the controversial privately-funded mission that organisers have estimated will cost six billion dollars and is set to be filmed for a reality television series. She's been speaking exclusively to Clyde News reporter Connor Gillies

We revealed this morning how Hannah is Scottish and went to school in Fort William.

In total, 50 men and 50 women have been shortlisted from around the world, including 39 from the Americas, 31 from Europe, 16 from Asia, seven from Africa and seven from Oceania.
