Raigmore Hospital’s Emergency Department waiting room will be closed for a short period next week for improvement works.

The waiting room will close on Tuesday night and a temporary waiting room will be set up in close proximity to the department.

NHS Highland say no services at the hospital will be affected by this temporary closure.

Brendan Forman, assistant divisional nurse manager, said: “The floor in the waiting room is being replaced to improve the quality of the environment for patients, but to allow this to happen we can’t have anyone in the area while work is ongoing.

“Our temporary waiting room will be to the right of the main Emergency Department entrance. Patients will use the entrance to the Rapid Access Medical Unit, which is next to the Emergency Department. It will be clearly signposted and, as well as our reception staff, a member of clinical staff will always be in the temporary facility to ensure those waiting are as comfortable as they can be.

“I’d like to apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, but the planned closure and relocation will only be for 12 hours and normal access will resume from Wednesday morning.”
