A bus driver who died after an alleged assault in Elgin on Friday night has been named by police as Keith Rollinson.

The 58 year old passed away at Dr Grays Hospital after the incident at the bus station on St Giles Road around 10.40pm on February 2.

A 15 year old boy has been arrested and charged in connection, he is due to appear at Elgin Sheriff Court on Monday February 5.

Detective Inspector Gavin Fleming, of Aberdeen CID, said: “Our thoughts are very much with Keith’s family and we are providing them with support at what is a very difficult time for them. They have asked for their privacy to be respected.”

Condolences have been offered to the family of Mr Rollinson, MP for Moray, Douglas Ross said yesterday: “People across Moray are very grateful for the efforts of the emergency services, but this is causing significant concern that this could happen.”

“Someone going out to work, being a valued public servant helping people travel across the area, for them not to return home from their work on Friday evening and to lose their live in such tragic circumstances is a major shock for people right across the area.”
