A pensioner has been badly hurt after being knocked down in Inverness.

The 75-year-old was hit by a light blue Citroen C1 on Old Perth Road, near the Shell petrol station, at about 5:10pm on Sunday.

The man is being treated at Raigmore Hospital where medical staff describe his condition as serious but stable.

The female driver of the car was not injured.

The road was closed for around seven hours to let police investigate.

Sergeant Calum MacAuley said: “Our enquiries are ongoing and I am appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time and who saw the crash to contact us.

“I would also appeal to anyone with a dash cam which may hold images that could assist us to get in touch."
