Edinburgh Salmon Company in Dingwall to close

Européenne de la Mer announced the site will cease trading at the end of the year.

The announcement comes at the end of the consultation period where the company claims there is 'no feasible alternatove' to the closure.

The firm employs 163 contracted staff and up to 130 seasonal workers.

ESCo is now entering an individual consultation process with each of their employees.

Européenne de la Mer said: 'We are making every possible effort to support them in their search for alternative employment.

'We are exploring all opportunities and are working with the Scottish Government and local enterprise and skills agencies to identify employment options in the local area.

'ESCo remains ready, and will maintain the necessary employees, to fulfil all current contracted obligations which run until the end of the year, when we will cease production.

'We would like to thank all employees for their commitment to the company to date and their professionalism during this difficult time.'
