Duncan Ferguson has left his role as manager of Caley Thistle.
Administrators at Inverness have been setting about securing the long term future of the League 1 club.
With the Caley Jags now sat on -3 points, Saturday they play at nearest rivals Dumbarton who are on 9 points.
Scott Kellacher, the first team coach, is stepping up to take over as head coach with immediate effect.
Amid the financial crisis, Ferguson and his two coaches have been let go by the club, while on Thursday other players and staff are expected to hear about their futures.
An earlier statement from administrators BDO said they were working to "secure the long term future" of Caley Thistle, adding it would be a "difficult and uncertain time for the club, its staff, its loyal fan base and the local community"
Speaking recently, Ferguson said: “The fans get frustrated because they want you to win every game
"We go back to last year, we got a lot of points when we came in, we just didn't get enough and dropped out of the division through a play-off
"We were 19 points above the (Championship) relegation zone at the end of last season, but we were in it when I got here
"We needed just one extra point
"I think this year we've had too many draws and it's been difficult this season with the recruitment process and trying to get players in"
With a 15 point deduction, Ferguson admitted it would be an uphill battle to avoid relegation.
He joined Caley Thistle last September, taking the helm from Billy Dodds.
However, even after getting Inverness off the foot of the Championship, they were still relegated come the end of the season following a play-off against Hamilton.
An update from Caley Thistle administrators BDO is anticipated on Thursday with Inverness now sat at the foot of the table following their 15 point penalty according to SPFL insolvency rules.
Previously, Ferguson had stated his own opposition to going into administration.
ICT consultant Alan Savage has said that there is a future for the club despite the immediate uncertainty of administration.
Mr Savage said: "With liquidation, you'd end up in the Highland League, there's no comeback from that
"With this, we are bringing expenditure in-line with income
"It's a process that many other clubs have gone through, it's when a club needs to reset - we've had years-and-years of neglect"
