The drunkest driver ever to be prosecuted at Wick Sheriff Court has been banned from driving.

Dawn Sutherland will also carry out community work after pleading guilty to drink-driving on the A99.

The 44-year-old was stopped by the police after she was reported to them by a concerned customer at the Lidl in Lybster.

She was breathalysed after being stopped on the road, and a further test revealed that she was more than seven-times over the legal limit.

The reading was described as "nothing short of incredible" by Sheriff Andrew Berry.

He described the Caithness woman as "a huge danger" to other road users, and ordered her to carry out 100-hours of unpaid, supervised community work, and was banned from driving for 32-months.

During the trial the court heard how Sutherland was known to consume a litre of vodka a day.
