No decision has been reached yet.

Extending the school Christmas holidays this year in Scotland is still under consideration, the Scottish Government has confirmed.

There are reports pupils could finish up on Friday 18th December and return on Monday 11th January.

A Scottish Government spokesperson said, "Questions have been raised in relation to the timing of the school holidays, in particular that some schools break up very close to Christmas.

"This issue was discussed at the Education Recovery Group meeting on November 26, where there were mixed views and no decision has been reached.”

It is thought concerns have been raised about children returning to school too soon after the rules are relaxed, allowing more households to spend time together.
