Two deaths have been confirmed at Highland care homes after outbreaks of COVID-19.

The Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service have received reports in connection with the deaths of a woman at the Castle Gardens care home in Invergordon, and a man at Fodderty care home near Dingwall.

A spokesman said: "The investigation into the deaths, under the direction of Covid-19 Deaths Investigation Team (CDIT), are ongoing and the families will continue to be kept updated in relation to any significant developments."

HC-One, who manage Castle Gardens Care home say their residents are their "absolute priority."

A spokesperson for the Invergordon home said: “Our thoughts and sympathies are with the family who have lost a loved one at this difficult time.

“Our Residents are our absolute priority and we are taking all possible steps to minimise the spread of the virus including caring for Residents in their rooms, continuing to restrict staff movement within the home, and focusing on high standards of infection control. We are doing everything we can to support our Residents to return to good health.

“The home is closed to non-essential visitors and we continue to work closely with our local health partners to respond to the outbreak. We have the staff, PPE and equipment needed to protect Residents and Colleagues and we are grateful for the ongoing support and understanding from our families.”

NHS Highland confirmed this week coronavirus cases at Castle Gardens care home had increased to 21 , whilst cases at Fodderty care home remained at 13.
