Inverness have re-signed David Raven after recently-departed manager John Hughes had indicated his time at Caley Thistle was finished.

Raven has signed a two-year contract although the player himself has the option to leave next summer.

Hughes had effectively told the 31-year-old he would not be offered a new deal as he was focusing on bringing attacking players to the club.

But his budget dispute with the board led to his departure on Friday and a reprieve for Raven.

Raven told the club's official website: "The support I've had from the fans over the last few weeks has been amazing and I am extremely pleased to have signed again for ICT.

"I hope to repay that loyalty with the performances it deserves and I'm now looking forward to the new season with its new challenges. If we all stick together - the fans, players and staff - then I've no doubt we'll continue to be successful."

The former Tranmere right-back scored Caley Thistle's William Hill Scottish Cup semi-final winner against Celtic on the way to their 2015 triumph and fans had campaigned for the club to extend his four-year stay in the Highlands.

Chairman Kenny Cameron said: "The club felt it was important to make David, who is well respected at the club and held in high regard by the fans, an offer to continue his time in Inverness and we're delighted he has agreed to stay."

One player who is departing is Dean Brill, who was not offered a new deal.

Brill announced his exit a day after fellow goalkeeper Owain Fon Williams signed a new three-year contract.

Brill did not play last season as he worked his way back from a knee injury, but returned to action with the under-20s later in the season.

The 30-year-old saw his first-team place covered by Fon Williams and he moves on with a heavy heart.

He wrote on Twitter: "I'd like to say a big thank you to everyone at ICTFC for the past 3 seasons!! 2 of which are some of my best times on and off the field in my career!!

"A beautiful part of the world, family and friend visits, cup finals, cup runs, top 6 finishes and some truly memorable games!!

"Last season was tough not being able to play, but I have a huge debt to the club getting me back fit and ready to play next season, wherever that may be."
