Originally from Kenya, Denis Omondi is now a British citizen, and has served eight years in the British Army in the Black Watch from Fort George.

But the Home Office rejected his first application for a visa for his daughter, claiming he does not spend enough time with her.

He has full custody of Ann Omondi, who up until now, has been living in a boarding school in Kenya, and visited in between deployments to Afghanistan and Iraq.

Denis, and his new wife Shelagh from Inverness, decided to re-appeal the visa application, and their case was also raised in Parliament by Inverness, Nairn, Badenoch, and Strathspey MP Drew Hendry.

The re-appeal was successful and Ann Omondi landed in Inverness on Thursday 21st March and was welcomed with higs and kisses from her parents and other family members.
