What level of restrictions your area is in and what it means for you
The First Minister announced earlier this afternoon what levels every part of Scotland will be moving to from the end of this week.
Covid-19 restrictions will be eased in parts of Scotland from Saturday.
The First Minister said many areas could move from Level 2 to Level 1 of the five tiers of restrictions, which run from 0-4.
Glasgow, which was kept in Level 3 when measures eased in the rest of the country on May 17, will move to Level 2 on Saturday.
Below is a list of local authority areas moving to level 1.
Moving to Level 1 from Saturday
- Highland
- Argyll & Bute
- Aberdeen City
- Aberdeenshire
- Moray
- Angus
- Perth and Kinross
- Falkirk
- Fife
- Inverclyde
- East Lothian
- West Lothian
- West Dunbartonshire
- Dumfries and Galloway
- Borders
What changes in Level 1?
- Meet up to 6 people from 3 households in your home or theirs – and can stay overnight
- Up to 8 people from 3 households in an indoor public place like a café, pub or restaurant
- Up to 12 people from 12 households outdoors in your garden or a public place
- You do not need to physically distance from family and friends in a private home
- up to 100 people can attend weddings and funerals
- Softplay centres and funfairs can reopen
- Nightclubs and adult entertainment must remain closed
However, much of the country will retain tougher measures due to spikes in cases of the virus. These areas are listed below.
Staying in Level 2
- Edinburgh
- Midlothian
- Dundee
- East Dunbartonshire
- Renfrewshire
- East Renfrewshire
- South Ayrshire
- East Ayrshire
- North Ayrshire
- South Lanarkshire
- North Lanarkshire
- Clackmannanshire
- Stirling
Restrictions for Level 2
- You can meet 6 people from 3 households in your home or theirs – and can stay overnight
- Up to 6 people from 3 households in an indoor public place like a café, pub or restaurant
- Up to 8 people from 8 households outdoors
- Alcohol can be served inside a restaurant, pub or bar
- You do not need to physically distance from family and friends in a private home
- Up to 50 people can attend weddings and funerals
- Soft play, funfairs, nightclubs and adult entertainment must remain closed
Shetland, Orkney and the Western Isles council areas will move to Level 0, allowing larger groups to meet in a private residence and adult contact sport to return.
