Coronavirus cases have been detected at the biggest hospital in the Highlands.

New admissions and visiting has been suspended in ward 2C at Raigmore.

NHS Highland say all appropriate measures have been put in place and close contacts have been identified.

A statement said: "Ward 2C at Raigmore Hospital is closed to new admissions and visiting following the detection of a very small number of cases of Covid-19.

"Patients are being clinically assessed and monitored with normal patient care continuing.

"All appropriate infection prevention and control measures have been put in place. Close contacts have been identified and given appropriate advice and support.

"We would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone they should continue to adhere to physical distancing guidelines, wear a face-covering when in enclosed spaces, clean your hands and surfaces regularly and immediately self-isolate and book a test if you develop symptoms."

The health board say there will be another update after 4pm tomorrow.
