County recruit Hughes following Kettlewell exit
Former ICT boss John Hughes takes the reigns at Ross County with the club four points adrift at the foot of the Premiership
After the exit of Stuart Kettlewell, Ross County have quickly recruited the former Inverness boss John Hughes to take the helm at the Dingwall club.
Saturday's 2-0 home defeat against Hamilton left County four points adrift at the foot of the Premiership. Kettlewell's County had suffered 10 domestic matches without a win, eight of them defeats.
In a statement from the club, they describe the new manager as a "well-distinguished and well-known figure within the game", with "very valuable experience in the Scottish Premiership"
Hughes will retain the services of the current backroom team.
He will be well-known in recent history having previously been manager of rivals Caley Thistle, winning the Scottish Cup in 2015, taking the club to third in the top flight.
Hughes has been out of action since a brief spell at Raith Rovers ended in relegation to League One at the end of season 2016-17.
His first match will be a trip to one of his former teams Celtic in midweek, with the unenviable task of trying to replicate Ross County's recent League Cup win.
