Following the impact made by Davis Keillor-Dunn in breaking into the first team this season, Ross County manager Owen Coyle has been quick to get the 19-year-old midfielder on extended terms until 2020.
The new two-year-deal re-affirms the pledge by the Staggies boss to try and nurture and develop talent at the club.
Speaking to MFR News, Owen Coyle said: "Hopefully he's one who'll continue to improve at Ross County. It makes sense as his contract is up in the summer"
"He knows the staff and the management team are here and want him to get better and hopefully with that period of time and stability he'll be able to do that"
"We've seen at Celtic that Kieran Tierney's also signed a deal, and as a club you want to protect and develop your good young players. We're trying to build something here and Davis will play a big part in that"
As for the player himself, Davis has been delighted to get his chance, having made his debut earlier this season against Motherwell in the League Cup.
"It's been brilliant, what more can I ask for? The gaffer's playing me every week, I've been given the opportunity, I've been working hard in training and I can feel myself getting better along with the rest of the team."
"The manager just said, "I don't care how old you are, if you're good enough you'll play in my team, and we all just got down to work" you could see that everyone just wanted to get on and impress"
Davis believes there are several other well-established first team players in the Ross County side who have helped his development and continue to have a positive effect on his time at the club.
"Midge (Michael Gardyne) as all-time Ross County top goalscorer and appearance holder, that's the sort of thing you aspire to. Even guys like Marcus (Fraser) who's still fairly young. That's what you look up to - playing every week and getting your chance - and at the moment, that's what the gaffer is letting me do."
Sunderland-born Davis has played down any talk of playing on a bigger stage beyond the Global Energy Stadium, with recent speculation of a potential international call-up.
"I've neither played for England or Scotland, but obviously my Grandad was Scottish so that qualifies me on that side of things. Yeah, there were a few rumours after my goal (against Hearts) - along with a couple of assists - that I might've got the nod for the Under-21s, but nothing came of that"
"There are a lot of people who have been tipping me for this-and-that, and I know it could be massive for me and for my career, but all I want at the moment is to be playing every week, helping the team and getting more goals
