Residents in Moray are being consulted on plans to axe bus services in the region.

Local politicians are expressing concern at plans for a shake-up to timetables, which could affect residents in Elgin, Findhorn, Forres and Kinloss.

Locals are being asked to give their views during a public session at St Giles shopping centre in Elgin throughout Tuesday.

But Moray MSP Douglas Ross reckons that isn't enough.

He said: “Given the proposed changes it’s clear what a serious impact they would have across Moray if they proceed. I hope that this consultation is one which takes on board all feedback before any decision is made.

"It is clear from the significant number of people who have contacted me that this is a crucial issue across our communities at present.

“Some of these bus services are a lifeline for many people, with access to medical facilities and chemists to collect prescriptions or links to local shops to name but a few. The prospect of paying significant taxi fares will certainly isolate many members of the public."
