The search for Margaret MacKenzie, aged 70, who was reported missing from her home in Strathpeffer on Tuesday morning, is continuing amid growing concern.
Police in Ross-shire are growing increasingly worried for the wellbeing of Margaret, known as Maggie, who suffers from dementia. Margaret was last seen around 19:00 hours on Monday 23 November at her home address in the Park Terrace area of the village. Co-ordinated multi-agency efforts to search for Maggie are ongoing and have been sustained throughout the night. Search activities have included a number of agencies and specialist resources including volunteers from the RAF Mountain Rescue Team and voluntary mountain rescue teams as well as Search and Rescue Dog Association (SARDA) and Police Scotland dogs and the Police Scotland Air Support unit. Additional specialist resources from SARDA Wales, and further Police Scotland specialist search teams from Aberdeen and Dundee are being added today (Wednesday 25 November) to assist in the search, which will continue throughout the day and into the evening. Margaret is described as 5’5” in height and of medium build, with blonde/grey shoulder length hair and is likely to be wearing a full length black Regatta jacket with green jeans and black boots. She may also be wearing glasses and carrying a black and white striped shoulder bag. Margaret is known to walk in and around the village and although a number of searches have already been conducted in the area, police would urge all residents to continue to look out for Margaret and check any outbuildings or enclosed spaces around their homes and to make contact with police immediately on 101 if they have any information, no matter how insignificant they may deem it to be.
