Climber who died in Cairngorms named
32 year old Peter Nielsen from East Lothian fell in an accident on Friday
An experienced climber who died after falling in the Cairngorms has been named by police.
Peter Nielsen, 32, was in the Aladdin's Buttress area of the mountain range when the incident happened on Friday.
Emergency services were alerted and he was airlifted to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness, where he died as a result of his injuries.
Confirming his identity, Police Scotland said Mr Nielsen, of Tranent, East Lothian, was an experienced climber who was in the Cairngorms area with an organised climbing group.
In a statement, the force said: "The family of Mr Nielsen have been informed and wish to thank the mountain rescue services who were involved at the time of the incident.
"A report regarding the death has been submitted to the procurator fiscal.''
The death comes just days after police confirmed that the bodies of a man and woman found on Ben Nevis were those of a couple missing since February.
Rachel Slater, 24 and Tim Newton, 27, from Bradford, West Yorkshire, were reported missing on February 15 after failing to return from a climb on Britain's highest peak.
