Christmas babies bring extra joy to Scots parents

Families celebrating up and down the country after welcoming their new additions

Parents across Scotland are being given extra festive cheer after welcoming new additions to their family.

Proud mum and dad Kim and Donald Dallas (pictured above) were one of the first to experience a little bundle of joy, welcoming the arrival of their first son into the world at 4.10am.

The couple haven't named him yet. He was born at the Royal Infirmary in Edinburgh, weighing 9 pounds 2 ounces

At the same time as the Dallas birth, Karlijn Kuipers and her partner Alasdair Fowlie welcomed their own special Christmas present.

Also born at 4.10am - at Forth Valley Hospital in Larbert - their baby girl is also waiting for a name.

However. so far the first Christmas baby is believed to be born at 12.24am at the University Hospital Wishaw to parents Fiona and Gary Watson from Viewpark in Uddingston.

Their baby girl has no name yet and weighed 7lbs 10oz when born.

Meanwhile, in Ayrshire, three minutes later John James McClung, born 7lb 4oz, entered the world.

John is the fourth child of Danielle Sievewright and Billy McClung, from Kilmarnock, becoming the younger brother of nine-year-old Myley, seven-year-old Madeline and five-year-old Daisy.

Just three minutes after John made his arrival, Elijah James Mitchell was born at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee.

Elijah's parents Jordan and Jonathon are both from Dundee.
