A Moray school attended by Prince Charles is pledging to help police investigate allegations of historic child abuse.

It follows claims pupils at Aberlour House - now part of Gordonstoun - were assaulted in the 80's and 90's.

Police confirmed receiving 2 complaints, but no one was ever convicted.

Both school bosses and officers are asking ex-students to report any concerns.

The claims were made on a private Facebook page set up by a former pupil.

A Gordonstoun spokesperson said: In late 2013 we became aware of a number of allegations of unacceptable and potentially criminal behaviour dating from the mid-1980s and early 1990s.

"We were deeply shocked and saddened by these allegations.

"They were not made directly to us, rather on a closed Facebook page to which we had no access.

"When we became aware of the allegations we immediately informed the police and offered them our full support in any investigation.

"If any former student of either Gordonstoun or Aberlour House feels they were the victim of abuse we would be very concerned for them and would advise them to go to the police.

"We will continue to provide the police with our full support in any investigation."

Police confirmed they had received 2 complaints about incidents at Aberlour House.

A 44 year old man was reported in connection with alleged offences in the late 1980's.

He was due to appear in court in 2013, but the case wasn't continued.

Another report was made about the conduct of an ex-teacher Derek Jones in 1991.

Following inquiries, officers discovered he has since died.

A police spokesperson said: "No other information or complaints have been received which would allow inquiries to continue.

"We were assisted in initial inquiries by the school.

"If anyone does have a complaint, they should contact us."

Prince Charles attended the independent school with brothers Andrew and Edward.
