The Scottish Government is being asked to help improve broadband and phone connections in the north.

It's amid claims the region is missing out due to the pace of the superfast broadband roll-out in rural areas.

Highland Labour MSP Rhoda Grant claims many constituents are 'frustrated' by a 'second rate service.'

Now she wants a meeting with Deputy First Minister John Swinney about the issue.

She said: "I continually hear from businesses and individuals throughout the Highlands and Islands who are totally frustrated by the fact they still have a second rate service.

"In this day and age, it is outrageous that people in Inverness as well as in towns and villages throughout the Highlands and Islands still struggle to get connections."
