A five-old-boy has died following a multi-vehicle collision near Inverness.

The boy was receiving treatment at the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow, after Monday morning's crash on the B9039 at the Dalcross Industrial Estate junction.

However, officers now say he passed away yesterday.

The crash also left a 6-year-old girl seriously injured and a 39-year-old woman needing treatment at Raigmore Hospital.

They have both since been discharged.

Police say their thoughts are with the boy's family at this very difficult time.

Appeal for information

Two other men were treated by paramedics at the scene following the crash at around 9am.

Anyone with information about the crash, which involved a grey Vauxhall Insignia, a grey Peugeot 208 and a black Vauxhall Astra are being urged to contact 101.

Road policing officer, Sergeant David Miller, said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the boy who has died at what is a very difficult time for them and they have asked for privacy.

“We continue to appeal for information to assist our enquiries into the circumstances of the crash and ask anyone who had not already spoken to officers to get in touch.”
