Bomb disposal team called to flats

A bomb disposal team was called to a block of flats in Fort William following the discovery of an 'unidentified device'.

The incident in the Ross Place area forced the precautionary evacuation of a small number of nearby properties.

Police Scotland confirmed they were called to the incident at around 8.20pm yesterday.

'Due to the presence of an unidentified device in the address, Scottish Fire and Rescue and EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) were called to assist,' the force said in a statement.

No-one was injured and police stressed that there was no danger to the public at any time.
