Body of man found after London walker went missing in the Highlands

Formal identification still needs to take place, but Marc Drostle's family have been informed.

A man's body has been found during a search for a walker who went missing in the Cairngorm National Park before Christmas.

Emergency services recovered the body from a woodland area of Nethy Bridge earlier today at around 7.50am.

Formal identification is yet to take place, but the family of Marc Drostle have been made aware.

The 28-year-old was reported missing from Aviemore on December 21st 2024.

He travelled to the area from London on December 12th.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 7.50am on Thursday, 13 February, 2025 officers attended a woodland area in Nethy Bridge, Strathspey after a body was found.

"Emergency services, including mountain rescue, attended and the body of a man was recovered.

"Formal identification is still to take place, however the family of 28-year-old Marc Drostle, who was reported missing from Aviemore on Saturday, 21 December, 2024, have been made aware.

"His death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
